Job breakdown
Even though substance abuse and mental health disorders transcend language and cultural barriers, language differences often block a person from accessing proper care and ultimately the opportunity for a fulfilling and complete life; Outreach has multiple openings for Bilingual Weekend and Overnight Counselors to provide counseling to non-English speaking adolescents and adults.
What you will own
- Conducting initial screening of resident and resident's property in accordance with unit procedure
- Initiating miscellaneous screenings
- Documenting and charting all aspects of resident progress
- Communicating all pertinent information, incidents, and emergencies
- Supervising and managing client population
- Participating in group activities
- Providing crisis interventions and follow-ups
- Developing and maintaining positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Assisting with crisis intervention, crisis stabilization, and mobile emergence response as a member of the 24/7/365 crisis team
Skills you will bring to the table
- Knowledge of evidence-based practice model of treatment MI, CBT, CRAFT, etc.
- Team mindset
- Ability to stay calm in a crisis
- Strong interpersonal communication written and spoken
- Culturally sensitive and empathetic
- Proficient computer skills Word, Outlook, etc.
- Flexibility in weekend shift coverage or swap
- Familiarity with electronic documentation programs
Negotiables
- 1+ year of experience working in an OASAS-funded facility a plus
Non-negotiables
- Qualified Healthcare Professional QHP license
- CASAC-T; will consider CASAC-T eligible or transferable skills in residential care
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Behavioral Sciences, or relevant field
- 1+ years experience providing substance abuse treatment services
- 1+ years experience providing services to individuals with co-occurring disorders
- Bilingual in Spanish as you will primarily be working with non-English speakers
- Familiarity of community resources related to substance abuse disorders, mental health disorders, and misc. chronic medical conditions
